Innovative Uses of QR Codes for Businesses by David Key of California

The creative ways of doing business never cease to impress me, and with newer technologies and innovative ways, the creative minds are more excited than ever. The latest buzz when it comes to technological creativity is about QR or Quick Response codes, and it seems like the buzz is going to continue for a long time, if not forever. Invented as early as 1994 by the Japanese Automotive sector for internal use, the code has gained its deserved level of popularity only in the recent years.

Companies, organizaImagetions and businesses are finding attractive ways to utilize the power of QR codes. Not only museums like The Cleveland Museum of Art a
re using the technology for directing visitors to in-depth data regarding particular attractions, but also moderncities like Frankfurt are taking steps by attaching QR codes in train carriages, in order to keep customers updated with various important information, most such data being real-time. David Key, a California-based specialist of bar code technology, says that QR codes are actually “optical representation of data”. The codes can be scanned easily using latest technologies by mobiles, and when scanning is done, the data gets transformed to human-readable form. The specialist based in Irvine of Orange County, who is popularly associated with the breakthrough of intelligent medical card in the health industry, believes that the world can do much more with QR codes as compared to bar codes.

ImageWith Scholz & Friends, a respected European advertising agency, utilizing QR code in pizzas using tomato sauce with a view to recruiting new team members, and succeeding in the process, the potential future uses of QR codes seem unlimited. As a matter of fact, anywhere and everywhere these codes can be found nowadays – in a jacket worn by an elderly person, a baseball in the field, in the tile-flooring near the swimming pool of a company building and more! The QR code revolution has engulfed millions from every walk of life, and with a generation that is getting more and more tech-savvy with each passing minute, the craze is only likely to increase with time.

Having gardens, food shops as well as rural farms embracing QR codes, only time will tell where this technology will take human civilization as a whole. David Key is excited about the fact that these days, QR codes can be witnessed in “t-shirts, retail store windows, and even baseball gloves”!

In addition to different sectors utilizing the power of such codes, there have emerged many firms particularly interested in providing QR solutions for companies and organizations that need it. Scanitex Inc., one of the major players when it comes to QR code implementation, has a motto that goes “changing business one scan at a time”! The firm’s website allows businesses to create their own QR codes which are fully personalized in nature. Scanitex Inc. believes that with the passage of time, it is very important for most businesses to welcome the benefits of QR codes. The firm not only provides consulting services, but also allows organizations to obtain planning, engineering as well as marketing services for affordable costs.

ImageToday, people are even using QR codes in pendants made for pets, in order to minimize losing pets by accident or forgetfulness. With big names like Verizon, Starbucks, Mountain Dew and many others utilizing as much power of QR codes as possible in innovative and creative ways, it is expected that the whole world is going to soon embrace such codes in every walk of life. Although at this point popular mostly in Japan, USA, UK and Canada, the codes are likely to be extensively used by the whole world within a few years.  – David Key

David Key of California: The Effects of Fax Transmission on Bar Code Decoding

David Key, Irvine CA, the bar coding technology expert explains about the effects of Fax transmission on bar code decoding, he says as per the faxed documents of bar coding symbols, it has been ascertained that the quality of bar code symbols have been degraded. All the documents are scanned by the fax machines in accord to the standard resolution sampled as per 98 vertical dots per inch and 204 horizontal dots per inch.

Afterwards, each and every sample point is translated into a black or white value, a procedure known as binarization. According to this process, the straight lines of the bar code symbols are converted into ragged ones, altering the width of spaces and bars. Every additional fax cycle extends to delineate the quality of a bar code. In fact, at a certain point, the symbol is not able to get decoded by the bar code decoding software.

David Key, Irvine CA tells two symbologies in order to explain Effects of Fax Transmission:-

1. (1D) Linear symbologies – Two most popular linear symbologies were analyzed and tested – Code 39 and Code 128. Code 39 uses two bar and space widths to convert the information whereas Code 128 uses four. Afterwards, thirteen most belittled module sizes varying from 12.5 to 32.5 mil of every symbol form were encoded and printed on a sheet. The sheet was beamed and sent via fax at standard resolution for ten cycles. The resulting eleven pages were scanned via scanner at approx. 300 samples per inch and were represented to a bar code decode software. Both bar code symbologies were able to successfully decode for 3 faxes at 2.6 samples per module, whereas the same codes having 6.6 samples per module were able to read even after 10 faxes. There is one thing to consider i.e. the greater the size of the module of linear code is, the more horizontal it will be to encode the same amount of data, but the larger module sizes can improvise the read rate.

2. (2D) Matrix symbologies – This process renders better information about the accuracy and density as the information gets encoded in both vertical as well as horizontal directions. The data matrix used was a 12*12 module square symbol, and 2D symbols can be printed with much greater size module symbols, as compared to linear symbols encoding the same information.

In a nutshell, if the documents comprising varied bar code symbols are faxed multiple numbers of times, then the bar code symbols get printed with a greater sized module to be successfully decoded.

David Key of California Reveals QR Codes: What is Behind All Those Dots?

Scanning this simple QR Code takes your smart phone to this webpage!

David Key of Irvine Calfornia, has specialized in bar code technology since he graduated from college. Back then the latest technology was bar code 39 which is still an industry standard in many applications. Key explains that the new bar code today is QR Code which is an optical representation of data that can be read easily by the scanning device instrumentation and mobile devices, which in turn gets translated by the special software. Prior to QR Code, bar codes were available as specified parallel lines usually in black color, known vastly as one-dimensional or linear bar codes. Though, in these days, bar coding devices are able to read all kinds of patterns including hexagon, square, dots and other geometric patterns, known widely as two dimensional matrix codes. All such symbols are not bars, but still referred and pertained as bar codes. The new applications for QR Codes are endless due to their wide variety of applications in today’s mobile and Intenet markets. David Key specializes in QR Code applications in today’s commercial and retail enviroments. The QR Code in the upper left can be scanned with any smart phone and it so happens to take you to this article!

Everyday mobile devices can now scan QR Codes

Everyday mobile devices can now scan QR Codes

Today QR coding is being employed and used in retail sectors, to automate their checkout procedure and point of sales system in addition to consumer habits and service usage. Since then, bar code systems are vastly used all over the world in several other industries and applications. Moreover, varied forms of bar codes as well as bar scanning devices are available in the market nowadays at affordable prices. There are distinctive components including QR bar code readers and optical scanners that read the codes scanned from an image integrating special software to interpret, which is very similar to the software employed in Smart phone platforms. In addition, other bar code equipment constituents includes screen displays, CPU’s (Central Processing Units) and bar code printers, which are very flexible and compact to get fitted in any space or location.

The most appealing and acknowledged component of bar coding system involves a bar code scanner, which you have for sure ascertained as a red light that seems to appear every time a bar code is scanned. Comprising no as such moving elements, bar code scanners are used as hand held devices and permanent fixed bar code instrumentations. Becoming an indispensable part of our daily lives, bar coding systems can even scan damaged or low quality bar codes with utmost accuracy and preciseness. All the components of bar coding system were especially designed as light weighted, compact and mobile, considering space management purposes in mind. In short, bar coding equipment’s and bar coding scanners have changed the entire world procedure, leading it towards more accurate and speedy transactions, saving a lot of time of people.

What’s amazing is that today’s QR Codes can be seen on T-shirts, retail store windows, even baseball gloves at a sporting goods store. You name it, a QR Code is probably attached to it. Today’s smart phones can easily scan a QR Code to see how much the product costs to searching for a better price at other stores. But using the QR Codes to test and monitor buying behaviors is the latest crave for this high tech square of dots known as QR Codes.
